Contact lens wearers´ memo

Wearing contact lenses can be a convenient or necessary alternative to glasses when performing everyday activities.
Wearing contact lenses poses mechanical risks, therefore it is important to be careful following some rules, to protect Your eyes.
Many natural protective mechanisms of the cornea such as corneal oxygen supply and tear flow are decreased under the contact lens, which
makes it easier for bacteria to grow.
Therefore it is very important follow some hygiene recommendations when wearing lenses.
  • Please follow the instructions describing wearing time and cleaning of the lenses.
  • Give Your eyes some rest between lens wearing days. This means You should have at least one set of glasses for this purpose or in case something happens to the well-being of Your eyes.
  • Frequent replacement of daily disposable contact lenses are better for the eye compared to extended wear lenses, because less bacteria can adhere to the lenses, when they are used for a shorter period of time.
  • Lenses have a porous structure in order to let oxygen through, at the same time letting microorganisms and harmful substances stick to the material. Cleaning solutions can not wash them out completely.
  • Urgent eye doctor appointment is needed when:
    • Sudden pain is experienced putting on or removing contact lenses
    • Vision gets blurred
    • Redness of discharge from the eye is noticed.
  • Many problems can be solved, when found in early stages, even a couple of days delay can result in long treatment and worse results for visual acuity restoration.
